Uns Deutschen wird neben einigen Tugenden doch ein Hang zum Meckern, Nörgeln, Beschweren und ein damit verbundener unterschwelliger hang zur Unzufriedenheit nachgesagt. Mein Opi hat gern gemeckert – zu DDR-Zeiten als auch später. Auch ich ertappe mich dabei. Mein Mann wiederum ist eher eine Frohnatur und so verwirrte es mich ein wenig, als er mit mir meckerte. „Mecker nich“ war meine Reaktion und schon war die Idee zu diesem Werk geboren.

„Fürst Meckernich“: Extra prickelnder, trockener Sekt in der Nörgeledition. Natürlich mit einer Extraportion trockenem Humor. Der Fürst – hier lauthals am Meckern – gilt als schwieriger Charakter. Ähnlichkeiten zu bekannten Personen sind natürlich rein zufällig. Darauf ein Prost! Lassen Sie den Tag prickelnd ausklingen.

We Germans – besides some virtues – are said to have a tendency to grumble, nag, and complain, along with an underlying tendency toward dissatisfaction. My grandpa loved to grumble—both back in the GDR days and later on. I find myself doing it, too. My husband, on the other hand, is more of a cheerful soul, so it confused me a little when he started grumbling at me. “Don’t grumble,” („Mecker nich“) was my reaction, and just like that, the idea for this work was born. In German if someone grouses we say „meckern“ which is also used for the voice of a goat.

“Fürst Meckernich”: An extra-sparkling, dry sparkling wine in the “nagging” edition. Naturally, it comes with an extra dose of dry humor. The Prince (Prince Metternich which sounds like mecker nich) – here grumbling at the top of his lungs – is considered a difficult character. Any resemblance to well-known individuals is, of course, purely coincidental. Cheers to that! Let the day end on a sparkling note.
