Klimawandel? Ja? Nein? vielleicht beantwortet dieser Eisbär die Frage. Auf seinem schmelzenden Eisberg liegend, sieht er ein wenig traurig aus. Lasst uns helfen! Wir müssen bewusster damit umgehen, was wir tun und kaufen. Kleine Abkühlung gefällig? Das Fell ausziehen ist für ihn wohl keine Option.

Die Illustration „Der traurige Eisbär“ basiert auf einer Figur aus Papiermaché, die ich für eine Installation fertigte. In der Kühltruhe war dieser etwas zu klein und nach Grundwasser im Keller ist der Eisbär einer der wenigen „Überlebenden“. Auch wenn das Thema Klimaschutz inzwischen etwas überstrapaziert ist, mich lässt es nicht kalt. Und so zeichnete ich den Eisbär auf seiner schmelzenden Scholle noch einmal digital mit Adobe Illustrator. Zu Beginn geriet mir dieser etwas zu niedlich, doch final gelang der Sprung zu größerer Ernsthaftigkeit.

The illustration “The sorrowful polar bear” is based on a papier-mâché figure I created for an installation. It was a little too small for the freezer, and after groundwater flooded the basement, the polar bear is one of the few “survivors.” Even though the topic of climate protection has become somewhat overused, it still affects me deeply. So I redrew the polar bear on his melting ice floe digitally using Adobe Illustrator. At first, I found it a little too cute, but in the end I managed to make it more serious.
