Der BBK Celle gibt uns Künstlern Themen vor und diese stellen immer wieder eine Herausforderung dar. Ich habe das Thema „Rasender Stillstand“ augenzwinkert etwas abgewandelt und hatte viel Freude am Spiel mit Klischees.

Die Zeit rast und ist doch relativ.
Ich landete schließlich beim afrikanischen Sprichwort „Gras wächst nicht schneller, wenn man daran zieht“.

Während die Technik von heute morgen bereits veraltet ist, gibt es Dinge, die beständig bleiben. Dieses Werk spielt mit skurrilen teils typisch deutschen – Klischees: Socken in Sandalen, Kuckucksuhren, Gartenzwergen, Grillen und Bier.

Die erste Kuckucksuhr wurde 1737 gebaut und ist bis heute ein Exportschlager. Seit den 1890er Jahren werden Gartenzwerge in Thüringen produziert. Vermutlich gibt es allein in Deutschland rund 25 Millionen Gartenzwerge.

Mein Resümee: Vielleicht sollten wir bei all der Technik, die uns überholt, einfach mal dem Gras beim Wachsen zusehen.

The BBK Celle provides us artists with topics and these are always a challenge. I have modified the theme of “ Racing standstill” a little with a wink and had a lot of fun playing with clichés.

Time flies and yet it is relative.I ended up with the African wisdom“Grass doesn’t grow faster if you pull on it”.

While today’s technology will be obsolete tomorrow, there arethings that remain constant. This work plays with bizarre -sometimes typically German – clichés: socks in sandals,cuckoo clocks, garden gnomes, barbecues and beer.

The first cuckoo clock was built in 1737 and is still an export hittoday. Garden gnomes have been produced in Thuringia sincethe 1890s. There are probably around 25 million garden gnomesin Germany alone.

My conclusion: Perhaps with all the technology that is overtakingus, we should simply watch the grass as it grows.
