Ein Tag am Meer ist ein wahrer Seelenschmeichler. Das Meer rauscht, die Möwen kreischen, der Blick schweift umher und ehe man sich versieht sammelt man Muscheln oder Steine. Die kleinen Bausteine für das Glück. Ich weiß nicht, wie es Ihnen geht, mich macht die frische Seeluft hungrig und da kommt ein Fischbrötchen sehr gelegen.

So entwickelte ich das augenzwinkernde Bis(s)marck-Brötchen. Er ist sicher ein streitbarer Politiker, doch Pickelhaube und Schnurrbart waren einfach unwiderstehlich. Es heißt, Otto von Bismarck liebte Fischbrötchen und ein findiger Händler nutzte seinen Namen.

Doch wie umsetzen? Es war wie immer ein spannender Prozess und der schlimmste Schritt war das Anfangen. Der Rest entwickelte sich beim Kneten und Formen der Modelliermasse. Der Pickel war eine Herausforderung und musste mit Hilfe einer Bohrung angebracht werden. Den Teller bemalte ich mit speziellen Farben, die sich backen lassen. Doch was steht für Fürst Bismarck? Ich hoffe, ich konnte den Fall ansprechend lösen.

Während der Arbeit am ersten Fischbrötchen beschlich mich ein Verdacht: In dieser Szenerie fehlt etwas. Kann man ein Fischbrötchen essen, ohne dass eine freche Möwe sich etwas stibitzen will? Statt mal wieder zu viel in einem Werk zu verpacken, entschied ich mich für ein zweites Werk „Findet Hanno“.

A day at the sea is truly delightful. The waves crash, the seagulls squawk, your mind wanders, and before you know it, you’re collecting seashells or small stones—the little ingredients needed for happiness. I don’t know if it’s the same for you, but the fresh sea air makes me hungry, and that’s when a fish sandwich comes in handy.

That’s how I came up with the tongue-in-cheek Bi(s)smarck sandwich. He may be a controversial politician, but the spiked helmet and mustache were simply irresistible. There’s a story that Otto von Bismarck loved fish sandwiches, and a resourceful vendor capitalized on his name.

But how to bring it to life? As always, it was an exciting process, and the hardest part was getting started. The rest came along as I kneaded and shaped the modeling clay. The spiked helmet part was a challenge and had to be attached using a drill hole. I painted the plate with special oven-safe paints. But what represents Baron Bismarck? I hope I was able to solve the problem in an appealing way.

While working on the first fish bun, a suspicion dawned on me: something is missing from this scene. Can you eat a fish bun without a cheeky seagull trying to steal a bite? Instead of trying to pack too much into one piece again, I decided on a second piece: “Find Hanno.”
